Power of Attorney

The ” Power of Attorney” is a written document that appoints / grants authority to another person to act on your behalf. We can draft your customized document as either a limited, general, or durable general power of attorney depending on your specific needs.

“Limited” Power of Attorney

A limited power of attorney is drafted to grant authority to a person to act as an “agent” on your behalf in certain, specific transactions or with certain assets.  A common use of a limited power of attorney is for real estate transactions.

General Power of Attorney

As the name implies, a general power of attorney grants broad power to the designated person (agent) to act on our behalf. Often this is used by family members to help manage family affairs.

Durable General Power of Attorney

A durable power of attorney grants the broad powers of a general power of attorney and is often used to protect a principle should they become incapacitated in the future. The durable power of attorney is highly recommended for elderly clients who will often also name a “Health Care Surrogate”.
